Mission Yearbook - July 2, 2006
Winslow Presbyterian Church

Winslow Presbyterian Church, organized 45 years ago as the only Reformed Church in the Winslow area, led to structuring a Northern Area Ministry with three Navajo churches, Leupp, Indian Wells, and Winslow. This relationship nurtured and strengthened strong Christian fellowship with mutual trust and support. We look forward to continuing Christ's work with our Navajo friends; we extend our mission work to:
  • Transporting clothing and other contributions, collected by Arizona churches, to the reservation churches. Christmas toys and fruit for White Cone Head Start children.
  • Financial assistance to the Leupp Youth group flying to a Philadelphia, Delaware Presbyterian Church this summer, where they enjoyed Christian fellowship and tours. The Delaware youth had visited Leupp Presbyterian Church earlier, as a work project.
  • On-going work with the local Ministerial Assoc. which provides sleeping accommodations, gas or repair assistance, food, and occasional medical help, to stranded families and help to relieve the local 'street-people' problems.
  • Contributions to the 'Angel Tree' sponsored by the Chuck Colson Prison Fellowship.
  • Madonna House -year-around giving of food, (some cash) collected for needy families.
  • We make available our Fellowship Hall and facilities for church youth groups traveling through and Leupp & Indian Wells Presbyterian churches occasionally use the Hall for various meetings, when needed for a more central location.
Our Pastor Search Committee continues to have the CIF on the Call Referral Service web site and other media exposure. A "Tent Maker" model of ministry could easily be adapted and compatible. Until we call a Pastor, God is ever faithful, blessing us with excellent Pulpit Supplies. These pastors generously give of their time, with several traveling from Phoenix or Prescott areas. Our congregation is aging and searching for ways to reach out to all cultures and ages. Our fellowship remains very strong spiritually, deeply embedded in Biblical teachings, with total commitment to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We have five active and dedicated members on our session. We ask for your prayers in this time of challenge. However, we realize that man's power is limited and we pray for a discerning spirit as we wait on our Sovereign Lord, to guide us to new goals.
