Mission Yearbook - Appendix 2008
Verde Valley Presbyterian Church
Verde Valley Presbyterian Church is located in Cottonwood Arizona and serves the people of the Verde Valley. Like many Presbyterian churches, our primary need is for more active members.
Our congregation consists primarily of folks in the 55-85 age range. We do have several new families with teen-agers attending. In spite of our small size, we are active in mission work. In addition to supporting Presbyterian mission efforts, we contribute to a Domestic Violence program in our area. We also have members who participate in Habitat for Humanity, Verde Valley Caregivers and several members participate in ESL programs. We regularly support our local food bank. The men's group raises funds for children to attend summer camp. We also participate as a congregation in the annual Relay for Life in the spring.
We have a very active Presbyterian Women's group, a men's group, a women's spirituality group, and we offer monthly Services for Wholeness and Healing. Candlelight Advent and Lenten Taize style services are offered and we have a weekly Bible study, and a Sunday morning class. We support Parent Education classes by providing rent-free space to Parenting Arizona, and we sponsor a Boy Scout Troop as well.
