Vah-Ki Presbyterian Church

The members of the Vah-Ki congregation celebrated one hundred years of ministry on the Gila River Indian Reservation in October 2002. They have maintained a faithful witness to their community by hosting revivals and singspirations. A ministry to youth and children is also growing. The church has a Translated Choir, which sings familiar hymns in their native Pima language. The choir has been invited to witness their faith through song at various church functions throughout Arizona.

In cooperation with Cook College and Theological School, Vah-Ki began hosting a reservation-wide Bible Study. The first session ended November 2004. Classes will begin again in the spring of 2008.

The Elders and Deacons of Vah-Ki also participate in an Elders and Deacons Association comprised of the leadership of Native American Presbyterian Churches from Gila River, Salt River and Ft. McDowell Indian Communities as well as the Central Presbyterian Church. Vah-Ki is the host church of the Elders and Deacons Annual Camp Meeting held in October. In two years the Annual Camp Meeting will reach its one-hundredth year of ministry.

The Vah-Ki congregation has been searching for a pastor for more than five years, yet the worship and life of the church is maintained by dedicated Elders and Deacons of the Church. The session includes representatives from the Stotonic Chapel which is yoked with the Vah-Ki Church as a mission of the Vah-Ki parish.
