Mission Yearbook - April 19, 2009 First Presbyterian Church, Sun City The church continues to be actively involved in community outreach: Projects include: Once each month a group of members meets at West Side Food Bank in Surprise, Arizona, to pack food boxes. Members bring items of food and clothing to the church for Agua Fria Food & Clothing Bank. Currently a truck from that agency does a monthly pick-up of these items; also, one of our members makes a weekly run to the facility. Our Presbyterian Women conduct two food and clothing drives each year for Agua Fria. They collect and send redeemable grocery labels and box tops to The Glendale Family Development Center. In December, they collect funds for the Presbyterian Border Ministry (PBM) at Douglas/Agua Prieta, Mexico (A check is sent to the families, so they can purchase toys and clothing for their children.) Also in December, PW provides a "Mitten Tree" for members to attach warm mittens, gloves and caps to be given to Southwest Indian Ministries. Men's Breakfast Fellowship has an annual "Souper Bowl" project at NFL Super Bowl time (February) to raise funds for a different cause, or agency. We participate in the Coalition of Presbyterian Churches for Habitat for Humanity, West Valley. We contribute to Interfaith Community Care. Each summer for one week we hold an Adult Vacation Bible School during the evenings, as an outreach to the community. Continuing Education Classes with various Mission and Bible Study emphases bring community interest, as does the weekly Men's Breakfast Fellowship and active Presbyterian Women.
