Mission Yearbook - December 28, 2008
Scottsdale Presbyterian Church
Today, the people of Scottsdale Presbyterian Church continue our grand tradition of loving each other, loving our city and loving Jesus Christ most of all.
Since 1958, Scottsdale Presbyterian Church has led a variety of ministries to serve the needs our community. Young men and women learn about the love of Jesus Christ through our Sunday School, Youth Group, Boy Scout and Vacation Bible School programs.
Our S.P.A.R.K. after school program is now in its fifth year of operation. SPARK, which stands for Scottsdale Presbyterian Arts and Recreation Kids, is a Christian program emphasizing arts enrichment.
Both contemporary and traditional worship services are held each Sunday morning. During 2008 the congregation is reading through the Bible in one year, with the text for each Sunday's sermon drawn from the reading that week. Bible Studies and intercessory prayer meetings gather during the week. The Interfaith Bible Studies Series, held jointly with one other church and two synagogues, continues to be popular.
The church also serves as host site for a number of regional training events, including a workshop last fall put on by the Arizona C.S. Lewis Society. Our members are involved in cooperative local mission through a variety of groups including Mobil Meals, ViCap, Chrysalis Women's Shelter and Vista del Camino Community Center. In addition, our church has become recognized as a leader in the residential redevelopment efforts in our city though "ONE Scottsdale," an organization the church sponsors.
Today, the people of Scottsdale Presbyterian Church continue our grand tradition of loving each other, loving our city and loving Jesus Christ most of all.
