Trinity Presbyterian Church, Prescott
Trinity Presbyterian Church was founded in 1951, lead by the Chieftress of the Yavapai Tribe, Viola Jimulla. Since that time the church has prospered and now has a congregation of about 500 members. The church building has continued to expand and in 1990 a new sanctuary was completed. The congregation is nurtured and directed by two pastors: a Senior pastor and an Associate pastor. We also are very fortunate to have a very talented Director of Music, Administration and Development. In addition, our worship is enhanced by our organist who is a member of the American Guild of Organist. Each Sunday we have two traditional service and Sunday school.
Over the last few years our members have participated in international mission projects in Africa, Central America, South America and the Near East. Regionally we have assisted in activities on the Navajo Reservation and each year we contribute to the joy of Christmas for the children of the Canyon del Muerto Chapel near Chinle, Arizona. Closer to home and on a daily basis , the congregation is actively engaged in our community, doing such things as mentoring in schools, providing meals to the homeless, and working in food banks. A significant portion of our church budget is directed towards mission projects locally, regionally, and internationally.
In 2007 a preschool was added to help nurture children in a Christian environment. This has grown yearly and provides activities for about 15 children during the week. This past summer our church members help start a summer camp for elementary aged children which drew about 25 children from the trailer parks and apartments near Miller Valley School. This camp was an outgrowth of a series presented at the church devoted to the topic of children at risk in our community.
