FROM: Richard E. Coffelt, Stated Clerk

    DATE:May 23, 2009

The Presbytery of Grand Canyon is hereby called to meet for its Stated Meeting on Saturday, June 6, 2009 at Desert Palms Presbyterian Church in Sun City West, Arizona. Registration is scheduled to begin at 8:00 AM with the meeting to begin promptly at 9:00 AM.

This meeting is of great significance in the life our presbytery as we celebrate the life and ministry of our Executive Presbyter, the Rev. Kenneth Moe; and as we celebrate his honorable retirement. Also, we have the privilege of a visit with the Moderator of the 218th General Assembly (2008), the Rev. Bruce Reyes-Chow. The Gift of Light is the theme for this Stated Meeting and a preview of highlights as reflected on the Agenda are the following:

    • Welcome by Desert Palms Presbyterian Church of Sun City West
    • Service of Worship with the Rev. Bruce Reyes-Chow, Moderator of the 218th General Assembly (2008) delivering the Sermon
    • Report of Trustees and Council
    • Discussion of the Council's Planning Committee Report 2009 - Presbyters will be asked to reflect on the following questions based upon your review of the Planning Committee Report: What is your overall response to the document? What questions do you have? In light of the challenges and choices as explained in the report, what do you think the Presbytery should give up? What do you think presbytery should take on?
    • Enrollment of Candidate from Inquirer, Glyndon Morris
    • Board of Pensions Update and News from The Rev. Art Mills, our Regional Representative
    • Report of the Executive Presbyter, Celebrating the Work and Ministry and Honorable Retirement of the Rev. Ken Moe
    • Celebration of the Lord's Supper
We look forward to your participation in the June Stated Meeting and the opportunity it provides to re-connect with one another, to celebrate community and to joyfully offer ourselves to God and be equipped for God's service in the world through Worship. Included with the Call to this meeting is information about a 7 a.m. breakfast meeting on Saturday with the Rev. Bruce Reyes-Chow hosted by the Women's Ministries Committee (advance registration required). Also, the Rev.
