The Presbytery of Grand Canyon is hereby called to meet for its Stated Meeting on Saturday, June 9, 2007 at Orangewood Presbyterian Church in Phoenix, Arizona.
Registration is scheduled to begin at 7:30 AM with the meeting to begin promptly at 8:30 AM. Note that the meeting will begin thirty-minutes earlier than our usual Saturday morning schedule.
Communal Discernment is the theme for this Stated Meeting and a preview of highlights as reflected on the Agenda are the following:
- Welcome by Orangewood Presbyterian Church
- Service of Worship and Celebration of the Lord's Supper
- Report of Council/Trustees
- Workshop on Communal Discernment by Rev. Vicky Curtiss, Member of the Theological Task Force on Peace, Unity and Purity and Interim Co-Pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Corvallis, Oregon; and Director of Stirrings, which offers church consultation, spiritual direction and retreats. She has also served as co-pastor of churches in Ames, IA, Cleveland, OH, and Tucson, AZ, as general presbyter of the Presbytery of Western Reserve, and as director of the Women's Perspective of the Ministry of Money, Church of the Savior in Washington, D.C.
- Continuing the Dialogue and Discernment - Overture from the Session of Kingman Presbyterian Church
- Feedback from the Small Group Mutual Invitation Discussions
- Advice from the Stated Clerk "On the Matter of the Adoption by the 217th General Assembly (2006) of Amended Recommendation #5 of the Report of the Theological Task Force on the Peace, Unity and Purity of the Church.
- Reception of New Minister Members
- Enrollment of Candidate from Inquirer, Vickie Longenecker and Melynda Foust
- Examination for and Commissioning of Elder Sam Weinschenk as Commissioned Lay Pastor for First Presbyterian Church, Wickenburg
- Introduction of Pat Schindler, Coordinator for Mission Interpretation and Funds Development
