The Presbytery of Grand Canyon is hereby called to meet for its Stated Meeting on Saturday, January 21, 2006 at Mission del Sol Presbyterian Church, Tempe. Registration is scheduled to begin at 7:45 AM on Saturday, with the meeting to begin promptly at 8:30 AM.
Highlights for this Stated Meeting as reflected on the Tentative Agenda are the following:
- The Service of Worship will be led by Outgoing Moderator, Elder Cecil Patterson. The Service will include the Necrology Report, Installation of David Hodgson as Moderator and Celebration of the Lord's Supper
- The Final Report of the Theological Task Force on Peace, Unity, and Purity of the Church to the 217th General Assembly (2006) will be presented by Task Force members Elder Barbara Everitt Bryant and our own Rev. Martha Sadongei. Elder Bryant is a research scientist at the University of Michigan Business School; was Director of the US Bureau of the Census and first woman director of the census in 200 years of census taking; she is a member of First Presbyterian Church, Ann Arbor and an affiliate member of Valley Presbyterian Church. Rev. Sadongei is the Pastor of Central Presbyterian Church, the only organized urban Indian congregation in the PCUSA and was ordained by our Presbytery after graduating from Austin and serving as an elementary school teacher prior to entering the ministry.

- Election of Moderator-Elect Nominee Elder Barbara Walker, First Presbyterian Church, Mesa
- Annual Report of the Council Chairperson Gale Watkins and Presbytery Executive Ken Moe
- Examination for enrollment as a Candidate of Inquirer William Good
- Reception of New Member David Van Arsdale, final approval of the proposed revision to the Continuing Membership and Validation of Ministry Policy and approval of the Roll of Ministers as of 12/31/05
- Elections to the 217th General Assembly (2006) of Two Elder and Two Minister Commissioners, a Youth Advisory Delegate and San Francisco Theological Student Advisory Delegate Nominee Linda Bailey
- Report of the Bills and Overtures Committee on a proposed Overture to the 217th General Assembly (see next item)
- Action on a Proposed Overture to the 217th General Assembly (2006) from the Session of Sierra Vista Presbyterian Church
- Report of Council/Trustees with proposed Bylaw Changes concerning the Planning and Evaluation Committee and proposed re-election of Stated Clerk Dick Coffelt to an additional term.
- Annual Meeting of the Corporation to Elect New Officers for 2006
