Welcome to the
Presbytery of Grand Canyon

Grand Canyon Presbytery is an exciting place to live and minister, combining breathtaking scenery with the challenges of growth and diversity. Our congregations are diverse, yet they seek always to be cooperative, accepting, and respectful of one another's cultures. We work well together.

INTERESTED IN MAKING SOME NEW FRIENDS? IN MEETING A DIFFERENT CULTURE? IN SEEING GOD'S PEOPLE AT WORK?

COME VISIT A NATIVE AMERICAN CONGREGATION IN PRESBYTERY OF GRAND CANYON!
The idea of congregational partnering has been around for a long time. That's how many of our congregations were started - one church sending its members to begin a new church. Today, interest in congregational partnership is growing. Many churches take trips to overseas countries to learn about a different culture, see the church at work, and provide short-term assistance. We're interested in much more. We seek friendships in Christ. In the words of a 2010 General Assembly report, we want to build a community of mission practice. We seek partnerships that will take the time to have conversations that value dignity, empowerment, relevance and stewardship. We seek a life of common prayer, mutual visits, shared work in mission, and the gifts that come from long-term relationships. We are blessed with close-knit families of faith. We believe God wants us to be present among our native peoples through the Presbyterian Church, even as we face financial challenges. A congregational partnership is our way of sharing our storing, building important friendships and participating in our connectional church!

Mission Statement

The mission of the Presbytery of Grand Canyon is to celebrate and proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ by:
  • nurturing each congregation and minister member,
  • assisting and challenging each congregation to engage in ministry and mission with other congregations and denominations
  • developing and redeveloping worship communities
  • being a connectional, communicative link in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)

Scriptural Foundation

Isaiah 43: 18-19
Do not remember the former things or consider the things of old. I am about to do a new thing now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.(NRSV)
