Gilbert Presbyterian Church

Gilbert Presbyterian Church begins its second twenty years of service with an emphasis on mission and reaching out to others with the good news of Jesus Christ. In October, our Stewardship Committee sponsored our first annual Ministry Fair. Committees, groups, and organizations from the congregation, presbytery and the surrounding community set up booths and displays which enabled the congregation to understand, in a very hands-on way, the number and variety of mission projects in which Gilbert Presbyterian Church is involved.

The Mission Committee has continued to promote mission involvement by congregation members as they coordinate serving meals for needy people at Paz de Cristo and the East Valley Men's Center in Mesa.

GPC's mission outreach reflected an ever-widening scope of participation as our vacation bible school program again sought to reach the youth of the neighborhoods surrounding the church campus. Members of the junior and senior high youth groups partnered with young people from Mission del Sol and Chandler Presbyterian churches to engage in inner city mission work in Denver in June. And finally, Elder Rocky Mackey participated in a presbytery mission tour to Zimbabwe and Mozambique and upon her return opened the eyes of congregation members to both the needs and the great possibilities of Christ's church in Africa.

Gilbert Presbyterian Church moves into 2008 continuing to view mission emphasis and community outreach as vital to church growth and eager to see what God has planned next.
