Mission Year Book - March 2, 2008
First Presbyterian Church, Mesa
First Presbyterian Church of Mesa is a vibrant church of disciples making disciples. The church meets for blended worship, and has an active outreach to the immediate neighborhood and beyond. Each day scores of children are served through a weekday PreSchool, a Headstart program, and the Mesa Early Learning Program. Each week dozens of people learn to read or develop computer literacy through the Laubach program, while others receive various forms of financial aid through the Christhaven ministry to the working poor.
This past year saw many new things: in mission many FPC members went to places such as Mexico, Panama, India, and Iraq; in worship a quarterly Coffee House Worship was launched, and a new sound system was installed to enhance the quality of Sunday worship. Next year a major mission trip to Sitka is planned, and the church hopes to add children's ministry staff in order to reach young families in the area. Members, officers, and staff of the church would welcome prayers for guidance to become more and more the disciple-makers Christ calls us to be.
