Mission Yearbook - First Presbyterian Church, Mesa

FPC Mesa's church's global mission reach is primarily expressed through giving to the higher bodies of the PCUSA, although occasional mission trips help keep members focused on the world beyond. Our primary mission field, however, is our neighborhood. Each day scores of children arrive to participate in a church-based preschool or a federal Head Start program. Their parents may be learning to read through the Laubach Literacy program housed on campus, or may pick up one of fifty food bags distributed each week, or may even receive rental or utility assistance through Christhaven (a ministry that distributes more than $60,000 a year to the working poor). The church's educational bias extends to a nearby elementary school, providing back packs, health supplies, and science camp scholarships throughout the year. Beyond these opportunities the church encourages each small group to find engage in a hands-on project about which they are passionate.
