First Presbyterian, Peoria

Our Mission:

First Presbyterian Church of Peoria has a mission to build our rich heritage of faith, serving God in Word, prayer and deed. We witness to God's love through worship, education, stewardship and fellowship; reaching out to those in need. We welcome everyone into our sphere of spiritual awareness and learning.
The church was founded in 1892 and the sanctuary was completed in 1900. The church building is listed in the historical society registry.
The Pre-School that was established over twenty-five years ago is still directed by a long time member of the church. Youth programs include participation in Sunday worship, youth groups for all ages, annual activities that include Montlure Presbyterian Church Camp in Greer, mission trips, community outreach and drama. Each summer we host Vacation Bible School. Youth contribute musically through younger and older youth choirs- leading worship on the fifth Sunday of the month.
Presbyterian Women and their Circles sew prayer quilts for shut-ins, wedding couples, and baptisms. The church hosts potlucks with special music, a Christmas Pageant; invites guests to speak on our heritage, and holds a semi-annual rummage sale that benefits the church and those in need in our community.
We continue to support an Adult Day Care Program in our fellowship hall for those who have cognizant disabilities, the West Side Food Bank through our donations of money, food, and time; and have gathered food and water for the homeless, assembled Christmas Shoeboxes, and offered assistance through area agencies like Community Action Program (CAP) in Peoria.
