Goodyear Village Presbyterian
Our Mission:
Goodyear Village Presbyterian Church, located ¼ mile south of Hunt Highway on
the extension of Alma School Road just south of Sun Lakes, was organized by the
Presbytery in January 2002! For approximately 60 years, Goodyear Village was a
Chapel of the Vah-Ki Parish. A number of years ago the building in which the
people of Goodyear Village Chapel worshipped was condemned by the Building
Safety Inspection Division of the Gila River Indian Community tribe for failing
to meet the minimum Health Standards, Life Safety Standards and American
Disability Act. Funds for rebuilding were not readily available initially. With
the help of the Vah-Ki session, Gila River Indian Community, and neighboring
Presbyterian churches, the congregation has built a new sanctuary building, a
place for worship and a gathering place for the community.
Sunday morning
worship is a multigenerational gathering of many children, parents,
grandparents, and others young and old. At worship there is much singing,
prayer, and praise. The sermon is given by a different person each Sunday.
Worship is truly a time of gladness. There is an active Tuesday night Bible
Study and the church witnesses to the surrounding Goodyear Village community.
